Bravely Second: 01
Aug. 6th, 2019 09:56 amI started playing Bravely Second a few weeks ago after years of being preoccupied with other games. It's good to see most of the old crew back again, especially having Edea in the party. I opted for English voice over this time since the writing is so campy to begin with, I think the attitude actually works better than some of the more reserved Japanese dialogue. The only thing that makes this hilarious is any time Tiz speaks I can only hear Adrien Agreste/Cat Noir's voice and I just can't unhear it.
It's been so long since I've played the original Bravely Default that I don't quite remember the difficulty curve being so steep in the beginning of the game that I do honestly feel a bit stuck at times in Bravely Second. I had to reset after a certain surprise boss in the beginning and having to walk around and actually do the auto-battle grind killed my interest for a bit.
I think the story in this going to be a lot more interesting for me though, since chronologically this canonly takes place several years after the first game, but the map being different and certain characters being around feels more like something weird is going on.
More obviously something is definitely weird with the purple text in the journal but no one has addressed this in the story yet. It's a bit of flavor I definitely appreciate though.
I've already gotten the Wizard and Charioteer asterisks, the choice for Red Mage vs Thief was a pretty easy one for a beginning choice but I'm curious how much I'll care about stats over story for the choices that come later on.
Which reminds me, playing Bravely Second has definitely inspired me to scan some official artwork for icons, it's been a while since doing stuff like that but I do consider it one of the roots that laid down my path to graphic design, as silly as it sounds.
